Bigfoot Is Real

Bigfoot is the topic of a Dahlonega conference.

Bigfoot is real, so real that the mysterious wooly character is the topic of a two day conference being held this weekend in Dahlonega.

Experts from far and wide - including a Sasquatch linguist and a world famous animal tracker - will be at R-Ranch in the Mountains, Jan. 12 &13, sharing their Bigfoot knowledge. An estimated 400 Bigfoot info seekers are expected to attend the conference, one of many "Let's Talk About Bigfoot" events held each year in the U.S.

Lumpkin County is a logical spot for a Bigfoot conference. After all, a number of Bigfoot sightings have been recorded over the years, including one recently by a Lumpkin County Sheriff's deputy who caught the creature on his dashboard camera.

For those of us who can't make the Sasquatch Study event, here's a list of the experts and what their topic discussions:

1. Former U.S. Navy crypto-linguist and Bigfoot language expert R. Scott Nelson will talk Bigfoot ABC's and reveal an official version of the Sasquatch alphabet.
2. Famed Bigfoot hunter Alex "Midnight Walker" Tomas, a blog radio host specialist in Sasquatch interactions, will discuss the field techniques for establishing relationships with the Sasquatches.
3. Author Ron Morehead, who has spent 40 years researching Bigfoot, will speak on Bigfoot encounters and speech.
4. Professional tracker and Master Naturalist, Leigh Culver will on how-to distinguish Sasquatch tracks from human and animal tracks.
5. Discussing Bigfoot habitation will be Yale graduate and college literature teacher Chris Noel, who has also written two books on Sasquatch.
6. Jim Vera, a Bigfoot expert and recent guest on the after-hours radio show, Coast-to-Coast, will speak on the history of Bigfoot.
7. Arla Williams, one of the event coordinators, will discuss relationship building with the Sasquatch clan. (Arla, according to her bio, encountered her first Bigfoot when she was just six years old.)

Want to be in a Bigfoot movie? Here's your chance.

A local area film company is making a movie based on the legend that Bigfoot lives in Dahlonega...or at least in the forests in the Dahlonega and Beyond area. (In recent years, credible sources - from Army Rangers to a Lumpkin County Sheriff's Deputy - have reported seeing Bigfoot-like creatures running or foraging in the woods.)

Bigfoot Lives in Lumpkin County

 

Rumors persist that Lumpkin County forests outside of Dahlonega are home to Sasquatch, aka Big Foot. 

In the news recently is the Big Foot Coverup, based on a Lumpkin County Sheriff's deputy's dashboard cam that captured a mysterious 'something' dashing across the road in front of the squad car in 2009.

The sighting was a major news story in the BigFoot Times and became a YouTube semi-sensation. Now the story of the Sheriff Deputy Sighting gets even murkier, as the editor of the BigFoot Times accuses Lumpkin County Sheriff Stacy Jarrard of a coverup. Sheriff Jarrard reportedly investigated the mysterious sighting. He reported finding a gorilla suit on a college student's front porch and concluded that the Bigfoot sighting was a college prank. Since the sheriff refused to give the BigFoot Times the names of the students or produce pictures of the gorilla suit, skeptics are skeptical.

Now I am not saying Bigfoot exists, but the deputy's dashboard cam video shows something,  (especially the slow mo version linked above.) Animal Planet even came to Lumpkin earlier this year searching for the bigfooted creature. They may not have seen him, but they discovered his footprints. (Complete with toe prints!)  

What's more important is that the dash cam footage isn't the only sighting. Here are two more.

• In 2006, in Lumpkin County, two campers came upon a huge, big chested 9 ft. hairy something
• In 1985, outside of Dahlonega, a group of U.S. Army Rangers are reported to have stumbled upon a group of bigfoots (or is that bigfeets. Not sure.) 

So for now when people ask why I don't like walking by myself around our wooded neighborhood, my answer is - Bigfoot lives here.
