Hot Dogs Bad For Your Health?

Who would have thought that hot dogs were as dangerous as cigarettes? Now they tell us. We've grilled and boiled hundreds of hot dogs over the years and eaten just as many.

A couple of questions about the study that found hot dogs cancerous: Did this study compare people who smoked a pack of cigarettes a day with  people who ate a pack of hot dogs a day? Or was one cigarette compared to one hot dog? Hmmm. (Here's a thought. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that eating a pack of hot dogs every day isn't exactly healthy.)

While D&B probably won't serve hot dogs at any at-home cookouts, that doesn't mean we won't take a health risk ever now and then and actually indulge in a hot dog....especially when that dog is smothered in chili, onions and cheese.

  2. Some years ago I collected a story from a customer in North Carolina. I seems his company purchased an old landfill for constructing a new facility. As the ground work progressed one of the dozers unearthed a pile of hot dogs. They were in perfect condition, on rot no mold... could have just come from the store. Curiosity got the better of him and he researched the question. After some time he found that some 40 years previous, a meat packing plant had gone out of business and dumped their leftover inventory in that landfill. Good preservatives!!

  3. Life is getting just too complicated. Hot dogs are tasty. Now I'm not saying three meals a day - 7 days a week but one meal a week. Maybe Saturday lunch. Mmmm. Now when you're looking to buy hot dogs there are lots of choices. You've got your all beef, your chicken, pork and beef and the ones that just say meat products. There is a substantial price difference but is it worth it? I mean, I'm thinking even in the 'all beef', there are some questionable bits. So, are the questionable bits of a cow any better than the questionable bits of a chicken or a pig? Okay, there may be a valid argument there. My point is, hot dogs taste good and we're not getting any younger in this world so...give me a dog - loaded.
