A Happy Ending for Nugget

The good news is that Nugget, the Dahlonega dog, is living in a happy home, away from the glare of the media spotlight.

For most of this week and last, television stations and area newspapers covered the story of Nugget, the dog that adopted Dahlonega and who had lived at the local Golden Pantry for years.

As the story goes, an unhappy resident (U.H.) had been served a warning by animal control about his dogs. Instead of taking personal responsibility, the U.H. called the city saying, "if my dogs can't run wild around the city, then neither can Nugget."

The local animal control had long vowed that they would never 'bring Nugget in' because she belonged to the city, but after U.H.'s complaint, animal control was compelled to take Nugget off the streets. Instead of going to a shelter, our animal control office found a local family with a yard and lots of love to 'shelter' Nugget.

Don't ya just hate busy-bodies?
